What the comparison report shows

If the two PDFs contain different numbers of pages, the unmatched page content is also represented as additions or removals rather than being silently ignored.

Identical lines are not included. Repeated spaces and surrounding whitespace are ignored because PDF text extraction can split or space words differently. Punctuation, capitalization, numbers, and wording remain significant. The tool does not lowercase text or remove punctuation, so substantive edits are not hidden by an overly broad normalization rule.

What counts as a difference?

This is a text-oriented PDF diff, not a byte-for-byte or pixel-perfect visual comparison. Limitations and troubleshooting

The PDFs must contain an extractable text layer. Scanned pages that are only images do not provide reliable text for this version of the tool, and OCR is not performed. If the report says that no text layer was found, open the source PDF and try selecting and copying a sentence. If selection is impossible, convert the scan to a searchable PDF with an OCR workflow before comparing it.

Password-protected, corrupted, or malformed PDFs may also fail to process. Make sure both uploads are genuine PDF files and can be opened normally. Use exactly two files: a third upload is rejected rather than silently ignored. Very large documents may take longer because every page must be inspected.

Privacy and file handling

Comparison happens in the application's own processing pipeline rather than through a third-party comparison API. Uploaded files and the generated report use the existing temporary-file lifecycle and are scheduled for deletion.
