Reorder, rotate and delete pages before you combine
The merger splits each PDF into its pages, so you arrange pages, not whole files. You can move the last page of one document between two pages of another.
Click pages to select them, then use Rotate Left, Rotate Right or Delete Selected. Each page also has its own buttons to move it earlier or later, zoom in, rotate it or delete it, so you can reorder without dragging.

Is it safe to merge PDF files online?
With this tool the files stay on your device. The page reads them in your browser and combines them with pdf-lib, an open-source JavaScript library that can merge several PDFs into one document.
No copy reaches PDF-File.com's server, so there is nothing for us to store or delete. You also do not need an account.
Does merging PDF files reduce quality?
No. The pages are copied into the new file as they are, so text stays text and images are not compressed again. The result is an ordinary PDF, the format standardized as ISO 32000, so any PDF reader opens it.
The bookmark list (outline) of the original files is not rebuilt, so the merged PDF has no bookmarks. Web links placed on the pages normally come along with them.

Which PDFs cannot be merged?
Each file can be up to 25 MB. A password-protected or encrypted PDF is refused, including one that opens without a password but restricts editing, so remove the protection first with our Unlock PDF tool.
A damaged PDF that cannot be read is refused too. Try our Repair PDF tool on it, then merge the repaired copy.
Because your browser does the work, very large batches take longer on a slow phone than on a desktop computer.

What happened when we tested Merge PDF
We merged two small test files in upload order: test1.pdf (4.9 KB, 1 page) first, then test2.pdf (909 B, 1 page). The download, MergedPDF.pdf, was 4.7 KB with 2 pages, slightly smaller than the two inputs together, and it was ready within a fraction of a second because nothing had to be uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions about Merging a PDF
Are my files uploaded when I merge PDFs?
No. The PDFs are read and combined in your browser, so they never reach our server.
Will my hyperlinks and bookmarks be preserved when merging PDFs?
Links on the pages usually carry over, but bookmarks do not. The merger copies the pages into a new file and does not rebuild the bookmark list.
Why won't some of my PDFs load?
The file is most likely password protected, damaged or larger than 25 MB. Unlock or repair it first, then add it again.
Can I merge only some pages of a PDF?
Yes. Delete the pages you do not want before you click Save & Download. To pull pages out without merging, use our Split PDF tool.
Can I customize page numbers in my merged PDF?
Not in the merger. Add page numbers to the combined file with the Add Page Numbers tool.
Is there a limit to how many PDF files I can merge at once?
The tool sets no file count, and each file can be up to 25 MB. Very large batches take longer, because your browser does the merging.
