Rotate PDF pages: how it works, privacy and a tested example
Scanned documents and phone captures often end up with pages that are sideways or upside down. To rotate a PDF for good, you turn the pages and save the file, so it opens the right way on every device.
Our Rotate PDF tool does this inside your browser: the PDF is never uploaded to our server. You turn single pages or all of them in quarter turns, then save one corrected PDF.
How to rotate a PDF online
Every page of your PDF appears as a thumbnail with its own rotate buttons.
- Click Choose Files and pick a PDF, or drag it onto the page.
- Use the rotate left or rotate right button on a page to turn it 90 degrees, as often as needed.
- To turn several pages at once, select them and click Rotate Left or Rotate Right in the toolbar.
- Remove any page you do not want with Delete Selected.
- Click Save & Download to save the rotated PDF.

Rotate one page or every page
Each thumbnail has its own control, so you can fix a single sideways page and leave the rest untouched; see how to rotate one page in a PDF. To rotate every page, select them all and use the toolbar buttons.
Pages turn in 90-degree steps only: a quarter turn left or right, or two turns for upside down. Read why there is no 45-degree rotation.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The tool uses the pdf-lib library, whose setRotation method turns a page by a multiple of 90 degrees. The angle is saved in the page itself, so every PDF reader shows the page the new way.
Only the page's orientation changes: text, images and links stay exactly as they were, with no loss of quality. If a page still looks wrong in your viewer, see why a PDF can still look sideways after rotating.
Rotate a PDF without uploading it
The pages are read, turned and saved by code running in your browser, and the finished file is created on your device. Nothing is sent to our server, which matters for contracts, IDs or medical letters; our guide to rotating a PDF without uploading it explains how.
Each PDF can be up to 25 MB. A password-protected PDF is refused, so remove the password first with Unlock PDF if you are allowed to.
What happened when we tested Rotate PDF
We loaded our small test file test3.pdf (2.0 KB, 5 pages) and turned page 1 once with its own Rotate Right button, leaving the other four pages as they were. The saved PDF was 2.0 KB with 5 pages; page 1 now had a rotation of 90 degrees and pages 2 to 5 kept 0 degrees.
Saving took under 0.05 seconds on our local test setup, because nothing had to be uploaded. Tested in October 2026.

Rotating pages from several PDF files
Add more PDFs with the plus button and their pages appear after the ones already loaded. When you save, all pages go into one PDF in the order shown, as described in combine and rotate PDF pages.
To change the order of the pages as well, use Organize PDF.
Frequently Asked Questions about rotating a PDF
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Rotation only changes the angle stored for each page; the content is not re-rendered or compressed.
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Use the rotate button on that page's thumbnail and leave the others alone.
Can I rotate a PDF by 45 degrees?
No. PDF pages can only be turned in steps of 90 degrees, so the tool offers quarter turns left and right.
Is my PDF uploaded when I rotate it?
No. The whole rotation happens in your browser, and the file never reaches our server.
Is Rotate PDF free?
Yes. It needs no account and adds no watermark.
