Crop PDF Pages Online
Crop PDF pages online when you need to remove wide borders, adjust a printable region, or focus a document on its useful content. This self-hosted PDF cropper applies one set of displayed-edge margins to every page and returns a normal PDF that opens in standard viewers.
Crop your PDF nowWhat does it mean to crop a PDF?
A PDF page has page boundaries that tell a viewer or printer which region to display. This tool changes the page's CropBox. In practical terms, the output shows only the selected rectangle during ordinary viewing and printing. The page count stays the same, and the content that remains inside the rectangle is not shifted, stretched, or redrawn.
Crop PDF is therefore different from editing or deleting objects. A text line, image, or drawing outside the new boundary may still exist in the underlying PDF. If someone later enlarges the page box, that content can become visible again. Use a redaction or content-removal workflow when permanent removal is required.
Choose margins in points
PDF coordinates use points: one point is 1/72 of an inch. A margin of 36 points is half an inch. Enter separate top, right, bottom, and left values to remove different amounts from each displayed edge. Zero margins are supported and preserve the original visible region.
The same values are evaluated separately for each page, rather than assuming every page is US Letter. This makes the tool useful for documents containing portrait pages, landscape pages, and pages with different dimensions.
Mixed page sizes and rotation
Each page keeps its existing MediaBox and rotation. The requested top edge means the top edge you see in a PDF viewer, even when the underlying PDF coordinate system is rotated. The cropper maps all four displayed edges correctly before writing the page box. This prevents rotated pages from losing content from the wrong side.
Margins must leave a positive width and height. If a value is negative, not numeric, too large, or consumes the page, processing stops with an error instead of silently producing a blank or invalid page.
Privacy and limitations
The tool runs the PDF conversion on this application server without sending your document to a third-party conversion API. Uploaded and generated files use the existing temporary processing and deletion system. Even so, do not treat a CropBox change as secure redaction: hidden objects are not guaranteed to be destroyed.
Crop PDF v1 applies one rectangle of margins to every page. It does not offer a different rectangle per page, arbitrary coordinate editing, or separate bleed, trim, and art box controls. Those distinctions matter in print-production workflows, while ordinary document cropping usually needs only the visible page region.
How to crop PDF pages online
Upload a single PDF, enter the four margins in points, and select Crop PDF. The server validates each value, applies the page-box change, checks that the output is parseable, and then makes the result available through the normal download step. Open the downloaded file in your preferred PDF viewer to check the edges on every page. If the PDF is password-protected, remove the password with our PDF unlock tool first, then upload the unlocked file here.
For a quick half-inch trim, enter 36 for top, right, bottom, and left. For a document that already has the right page size, use zero margins. If you need to repeat a page rather than trim it, use our duplicate pages tool instead. Since the operation does not rebuild the page contents, text remains selectable and vector graphics remain vector graphics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does cropping permanently delete PDF content?
No. This tool changes the visible and printable CropBox. Content outside it may remain in the PDF and can reappear if the page box is enlarged.
How many points are in half an inch?
Half an inch is 36 PDF points because one inch equals 72 points.
Can I crop pages with different sizes?
Yes. The margins are applied independently to each page's own existing visible box, so mixed portrait and landscape sizes are supported.
Does the crop change the page count?
No. Every original page is retained, with only its visible page boundary changed.
Will rotated pages crop from the expected edges?
Yes. The tool maps top, right, bottom, and left according to the page's displayed rotation before setting the PDF CropBox.
