Merge Excel Files to One PDF Online
When reports, budgets, and project workbooks live in separate Excel files, sharing them one at a time can make review unnecessarily difficult. Merge Excel files to PDF online with PDF-File.com to turn multiple XLS or XLSX workbooks into one continuous document. Select the files in the order they should appear, let the service convert each workbook, and download one combined PDF.
The tool uses LibreOffice to render each workbook and then joins the resulting PDFs in your upload order. It does not edit spreadsheet formulas or rearrange sheets. Every workbook keeps its normal printable sheets, page breaks, and print settings as closely as the office renderer supports.
Combine your Excel workbooks into one PDF now.How to merge Excel files to PDF
Start by opening the Merge Excel Files to PDF tool. Choose two or more .xls or .xlsx files, or drag them into the upload area. The file list shows the workbooks selected for the job. Check the list before continuing because its order becomes the order of the finished PDF.
- Select the first workbook you want readers to see.
- Select the next workbook and any additional workbooks.
- Review the list, add or remove files if needed, and click Convert to PDF.
- Wait while each workbook is converted and the resulting PDFs are joined.
- Download the single PDF when it is ready.
A single workbook also works with this page and produces a PDF containing that workbook. With multiple workbooks, the tool does not create separate downloads and does not package the files into a ZIP.
How upload order works
Order matters when combining financial reports, meeting materials, or monthly exports. The browser sends the selected workbooks through the conversion flow in sequence. The first converted PDF supplies the first pages of the final document, followed by the pages from the second workbook, then the third and so on.
For example, if you choose January.xlsx, February.xlsx, and March.xlsx in that order, the final PDF starts with every printable page from January, continues with February, and ends with March. The tool does not sort filenames alphabetically and does not infer a date order. Rename files or use the selection list to make the intended sequence clear before conversion.
What the output contains
LibreOffice converts each workbook using its Calc PDF export. A workbook with several printable sheets can therefore contribute several PDF pages. Print areas, page orientation, scaling, margins, hidden sheets, and manual page breaks can affect the result. The merge step only joins complete PDF pages; it does not combine cells from different workbooks into a new spreadsheet.
The output is a standard PDF suitable for downloading, printing, emailing, and archiving. Spreadsheet formulas are represented by their rendered results rather than remaining interactive formulas in the PDF. Links, charts, fonts, and other features may render differently depending on the workbook and the fonts available to the office renderer.
How to prepare workbooks before conversion
For the clearest result, open each workbook in a spreadsheet application and check its print preview first. Set a print area when only part of a sheet belongs in the report. Choose portrait or landscape orientation, set sensible margins, and select a scaling option that keeps important columns readable. Removing unused formatted rows and columns can also avoid unexpected blank pages.
Use consistent page settings when several workbooks form one report. Add a title or date to each workbook if readers need to identify the boundary between sections. If a table is too wide, landscape orientation is usually more readable than shrinking the entire sheet onto one page. Save the finished source files as .xls or .xlsx before uploading.
Privacy and rendering limitations
This tool is self-hosted and does not require an external conversion API, account, or sign-up. Uploaded files are placed in temporary processing storage and the existing file pipeline schedules them for deletion. Download the result promptly and avoid uploading files you are not authorized to process.
LibreOffice provides broad XLS and XLSX compatibility, but no office renderer guarantees pixel-identical output to every version of Microsoft Excel. Password-protected workbooks, unsupported workbook features, unusual fonts, macros, and complex print settings may prevent conversion or change the appearance. Macros are not executed as part of this conversion. If the result is not as expected, export the workbook locally after checking its print settings or simplify the sheet before trying again.
For already-created PDFs, use the Merge PDF tool. For a single workbook conversion without combining files, use the Excel to PDF converter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I merge XLS and XLSX files together?
Yes. You can select supported .xls and .xlsx workbooks in the same job, and they are combined in the order you upload them.
Will every sheet appear in the merged PDF?
Every printable sheet and page produced by LibreOffice is included. Print areas, hidden sheets, and workbook print settings determine what is printable.
Does the tool sort workbooks by filename?
No. The final PDF follows the order shown in the upload list, not alphabetical or date order.
Do I receive one PDF or several files?
You receive one PDF containing the converted pages from all successful workbooks. A failed conversion prevents a misleading partial merged download.
Are formulas and macros still interactive?
No. The PDF contains rendered spreadsheet content. Formulas are not editable formulas in the PDF, and macros are not executed during conversion.
What should I do if pages are blank or cut off?
Review each workbook's print area, page orientation, scaling, margins, and unused formatted cells in a spreadsheet application, then upload the corrected files again.
