What does the converted PPTX contain?
LibreOffice Impress imports the PDF on our server and saves it in the PowerPoint 2007 XML format. That is the .pptx file type of Office Open XML, the default format of Microsoft Office since Office 2007, so PowerPoint 2007 and later open it directly.
Each PDF page becomes one slide. Text arrives in text boxes, pictures as images and drawn lines and shapes as shapes, each placed where it was on the page.
The fonts are named but not embedded. When a font is missing on the computer that opens the file, PowerPoint shows a similar one, so line breaks can shift.
Can I edit the PowerPoint presentation after converting?
Yes. You can change the text, move or replace images and change the layout in PowerPoint.
A PDF has no slide layouts, charts or tables in PowerPoint's sense, so they do not come back as such. A paragraph often arrives as several text boxes, and charts and tables arrive as separate shapes and text boxes, so bigger edits take some cleanup.

Does the converter read scanned PDFs?
Not as text. The converter does not run optical character recognition (OCR), which turns images of text into machine-readable characters, so a scanned page comes through as a picture on its slide.
To get editable text from a scan, run it through our OCR PDF tool first, then convert the result.
Can I convert multiple PDF files to PowerPoint at once?
Yes. Add several PDFs before you click Convert to PowerPoint, and each one becomes its own PPTX file. They download together as a ZIP.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs to PowerPoint?
A PDF that opens without a password but restricts copying or editing is converted directly, because the server removes those restrictions first. A PDF that needs a password to open is refused, so remove the password with our Unlock PDF tool before converting.
Privacy and file limits
Each PDF can be up to 25 MB. It is uploaded over HTTPS and converted on PDF-File.com's own server without a third-party conversion API.
The PDF and the PPTX are deleted automatically within two hours, and no account is needed.
What happened when we tested PDF to PowerPoint
We converted our small test file test1.pdf (4.9 KB, 1 page) with no options to choose. The download, test1_PDFToPPTX.pptx, was 7.7 KB, ready 0.8 seconds after we clicked on our local test server.
